Bride-To-Be

It has begun!  The pre-wedding parties have started—beginning with one hosted by my nearest and dearest girlfriends :)  Mandie and Britney came from out of town and my housemates and Beej were here too!

Instead of the current bachelorette party trend, my friends threw a tea party!  And it was WONDERFUL, we all dressed up and drank tea and ate "tea sandwiches"(college student version), chocolate covered strawberries and cupcakes!  Best.Party.Ever!

And the rings on these cupcakes lit up!  So we were all swinging around our giant light-up rings as we drank our tea.  Pinkies up!

And they got me a crown!  It was a blast, we wrapped up the evening by watching "Father of the Bride" together and then eventually changing into pjs and enjoying another movie with some lemonade.  I have the best friends ever—they know me so well

There is a lot to do before the wedding yet, but there is a lot on the move!  I can't believe we will be getting married in 70 days! Wow

Baby Bliss

Mandie came to visit, and she brought her beautiful new niece with her!  It was great to see them both, though I confess, I was rather hooked to little Taylor—so darling!  Here are some of the pictures we took—out of focus, she was a wiggly thing!  And the lighting wasn't ideal... thus a slow shutter speed, rats

Goodbyes—Round 1

Fearsome-foursome—out for our last night all together at Arborshire(officially). Tomorrow afternoon Mandie will be headed home for student teaching while the rest of us continue on with the next semester. There are a lot of good-byes for the next few years, and knowing this added to some extra pain behind this one. We'll miss her a ton, but we're super excited for her and her new adventure :)
And of course we expect her to visit regularly, haha

Origami Fun

Mandie has introduced me to origami this week, which could be a bad thing... I'm having fun with it despite the knowledge that I will most likely not have time for it in the future!
At this point, we're playing off of each other really well—she has the old expertise, and I'm new enough to try anything, so it doesn't take us too long to get past slight confusions.
These photos were taken while we were trying to make turtles. I'll upload a photo of the final products later! They turned out pretty well if I do say so myself :)

NW Automotive Logo

My roommate's dad is the owner of North West Automotive and they asked me to create a logo to go onto the hats of the workers. The deadline ended up being... well about the time I started (thanks for that Mandie... ;] ) so it's nothing witty or brilliant—or even finished for that matter—but they saw it at this point and wanted it as-is. So it's 'done'. . . feedback welcome :]

Bugs in the Night

Last night was rather eventful.
Mandie went out for the evening and didn't get back until around 12:30am after the rest of us were asleep —Now as a little back up, I am in the habit of gasping and jumping every time an alarm goes off— Anyway, as Mandie was waiting to fall asleep, Britney's phone rang once, causing me to jumped up, gasp, and turn on my light.
Now for my side. I don't remember the phone ringing at all. I distinctly remember seeing a bunch of gnats or some sort of bug fly up from Emily's bed over to the wall next to my bed. I turned on the light so that I could kill them, I adjusted the light so that it would not wake up my roommates. Mandie asked if I was okay and only then did I realize that there were no bugs... I was too tired to do much other than say that I was okay, turn off the light and go back to sleep.
Mandie and I talked about it today and yes, I was sleep walking. Sort of. haha, I clearly remember everything except the phone! Mandie thought the phone was mine and I had gotten bad news. We've been laughing about it all morning and keep re-enacting it for our own amusement.

Story from Mandie

Once upon a time there were 4 beautiful roommates at [the Arborshire]. They had many great times and hung out with guys like Max. They would also have very weird conversations that no one else would understand. They would also grow together. I think that is the best part.

The end

Another laugh from the Mandie-jar.
Oh, and ps, Max is the leader of our favorite dance-workout video.
We don't' hang out with him as much as we should...

September 27, 2010

Today has been very strange in the Arborshire. Some thoughts of the day included:

"I wish I was one of the fairies from Sleeping Beauty. Then I would be able to make the bed by using my wand!"

"You know it's a dull day when you get excited about using new soap"

"Don't you hate it when you can only breath out of one nostril?"

"I don't even have time to die!!"

"I do dishes when I don't feel like doing homework" (dirty dishes don't last long in our room...)

Also, the fire alarm went off and I was in my pajamas... and it was raining outside! haha, oh well, at least this year I wasn't in the shower!

Oh Monday, how thankful I am that you are almost over...

Basket Case

One of my best friends (and roommates), Mandie gave the rest of us a jar of random quotes. Some from Disney movies, wise individuals, etc. They are really funny and there's always something connected that we need to hear. So I pull one out whenever I am feeling blue and/or don't want to do homework.

The quote for tonight: "Don't let your worries get the best of you; remember, Moses started out as a basket case."

I laughed. Yes, I've heard it before, but sometimes it tickles just right—especially when you need to hear it! It is going to be crazy around here, and it's always easier when I remember that I'm not the only one who has dealt with stress, or had to jump into God's arms in order to make it through. I'm not exactly a 'basket case' (no official tears yet), and while I do have a lot of projects to do, at least I don't have to lead an entire nation across the desert!

Props Moses, you are braver than I.
