Contracts and Toilet Paper

I love my roommates and all the fun we have together—here is one of our typical facebook conversations::

B,
I would like to draw your attention to the beginning of this school year when the four of us roommates created an agreement, a contract really. In said contract, we specified that the toilet paper would always be put so as to fold OVER the roll, as opposed to under.
However, the toilet paper that is currently on the roll is folding under. Because I myself did not change it, and Mandie and Emily have been away, it is clear that you are the guilty party. I regret to inform you that you are in violation of your contract and must therefore leave the room.
Immediately.

To which she replied::

K! (add snap and head shake),
whoever was the one that put the toilet paper on top of the toilet paper holder instead of changing it and putting it on the roll is also in violation of the contract. because as i remember we did not agree on that my dear sweet sweet K :) I was only being the responsible roommate and friend by putting it in it's correct spot. I am very sorry for putting the roll folded over the other way, i kinda forgot about that..lol!
You still love me anyway and i will not leave the room cause you would miss me too much :) ♥

And of couse I had to agree to the last statement—I love that girl :)

Sleeping?

This place is getting crazy!  Only about 4.5 more weeks until the end of the semester! AH—so much to do!
There are, however, some entertaining side effects to the added stress in our lives.  A few weeks ago Mandie was with us again for a few nights and she instructed her students on proper public speaking—all while sleeping peacefully in her bed!
Sleep is less peaceful for those with stress—and when your father has the habit of sleep talking / walking when he is worried, then you're in for some really entertaining events!
My poor roommates... I have always giggled in my sleep—appariently I do so almost every night—but I have begun to talk quite a bit this past year or so (or maybe they are just now hearing me).  Last semester I cheerfully informed my roommates that "My kids are from Nebraska".
??
And the other night I gleefully asked: "Hi! Is there room for me?"
I'm not sure where I was going, but apparently I was pretty excited.  According to the roommates, I am always very excited and happy when I am sleeping—I guess that's better than being cranky :)

Bugs in the Night

Last night was rather eventful.
Mandie went out for the evening and didn't get back until around 12:30am after the rest of us were asleep —Now as a little back up, I am in the habit of gasping and jumping every time an alarm goes off— Anyway, as Mandie was waiting to fall asleep, Britney's phone rang once, causing me to jumped up, gasp, and turn on my light.
Now for my side. I don't remember the phone ringing at all. I distinctly remember seeing a bunch of gnats or some sort of bug fly up from Emily's bed over to the wall next to my bed. I turned on the light so that I could kill them, I adjusted the light so that it would not wake up my roommates. Mandie asked if I was okay and only then did I realize that there were no bugs... I was too tired to do much other than say that I was okay, turn off the light and go back to sleep.
Mandie and I talked about it today and yes, I was sleep walking. Sort of. haha, I clearly remember everything except the phone! Mandie thought the phone was mine and I had gotten bad news. We've been laughing about it all morning and keep re-enacting it for our own amusement.

Puppy Trump Card

Today in the lobby I noticed that there was yet another single male guitar player, singing away in the middle of the building as though he had no other care in the world. This is not an unusual occurrence at Spring Arbor, and these (rather smart) young men are almost always surrounded by single residents of our all girls dorm wearing "I heart Jesus" t-shirts and a dreamy haze over their eyes.
Unlike the past performers however, this individual was relatively alone and did not have much hope of being joined later. It had nothing to do with talent—from what I heard, he was quite good—but unfortunately for this poor individual, there was another heart throb in the building. A puppy. This puppy held the trump card against all other distractions and many girls from around the building were seen racing to the RD's room in hopes of having a chance to hold it.

Puppy: 1
Guitar Man: 0

Sorry buddy, try again another day—competition is a little steep this time around

Shower Dash

My girlfriends and I watched the Blind Side last night. It was so good! But the 'fun' started after the movie was over. First of all, we were watching Elmo prank calls on YouTube, (which are absolutely hilarious!) but around 1:30am Mandie and I discovered that we both needed to shower that night...
Thus began the mad dash for the "warm" shower—also known as the one closest to the window. Talking trash all the way, Mandie and myself grabbed our shower caddies and towels as fast as possible. There was screaming and laughing, but unfortunately Mandie won (I'm convinced that it is because I had to run down to my room while she was already in her's). I was forced to settle with the less than perfect "2nd best" shower.
The strange events of the night did not end with that: I dropped my razor and it absolutely exploded! I mean, into 3 pieces! That was frustrating to say the least—thankfully I had an extra in my room.

In the Quiet

I am currently sitting on the futon that has served Emily and me as a bed for the past week or so, and I am struggling to find out why on Earth there even is a 5:00 in the morning! The Chinese girls that have been staying with us are leaving today on a plane—and they have to be on the way to the airport by 5:45 am. Thus it fell to Emily and myself—okay, me—to make sure that both of them wake up on time and are able to get out the door at the appointed hour. Thankfully I will be able to go back to sleep for about an hour after they leave before I have to get ready myself.
Haha, surprisingly, I am fairly awake right now, though the lack of sleep will probably catch up to me at the most inconvenient time—such as during class, lunch, or when I am supposed to get up.

This time is a reminder that God is always awake. Always watching. Always protecting us. Normally at 5am, I am entirely unconscious (a pattern that I do not intend to change anytime soon) and the most activity that is performed would be to mumble or laugh in my sleep (yes, I laugh in my sleep—every night according to some). But God is still keeping watch, and probably still busy with the other areas of trouble in the world—though even with all this, He does not neglect me. Just as I am supervising the preparations of departure for the Chinese girls on my right, and the sleeping form of my roommate on my left—God is watching over everything. Even at the most inconvenient hours.

The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever

Christmas Lights in the Dorm

Mom bought us some Christmas lights!!! Hurray! haha, we put them up this evening and have been having a great time!  We hung them up around our bedroom window, and they are so pretty :)
I'm kind of geeked, it looks really pretty and with the shade down we still have enough light (soft, pretty light) to see around our room!
I'm excited, and ready for Christmas all of the sudden... haha—it's going to be a long next few weeks!

Screaming During Quiet Hours

So there is a space behind the dressers in our room.  It's under the beds so Emily and I don't think about it a whole lot, but you can see it if you look underneath my desk.  More specifically, the only way to get in and out of it is by crawling under my desk.  Needless to say, I am not very fond of that dark, little dwelling.  To top it off, I have a foot phobia.  Nothing major, but it gets bad when something cold is by my feet or when something I don't expect touches/grabs my feet.
For example, if we're sitting on the couch with our feet on an ottoman or something and our feet touch, I will jump and my feet will feel uncomfortable for a few seconds.  Also, when I'm in a lake I try to keep my feet close to my body because I don't like having my feet in the cold water at the bottom (my skin's crawling from the thought).

Anyway, last night (during quiet hours) I came in from the bathroom after brushing my teeth and I started to talk to Emily about something.  After a few minutes I walk towards my desk to grab my notes so that I can study one last time before bed.  Next thing I know, Becky--my RA-- jumps out from under my desk and grabs my feet!!!
I jumped about 5 feet into the air (screaming at the top of my lungs).  It was quite a theatrical accomplishment, and if I had not been so terrified it would have been very funny.  I actually think it's funny now, but at the time I was really shaken up!  So I just ran out of the room.  haha

Stay tuned, there will be revenge.  And it will be amazing.

Blond moments

I have a feeling that this blog will also become a vault where all of the stupid things that I do, and all the funny/terrible/sad/ironic things that happen in college.
I have had quite a few moments in the past two weeks where my blond-ness (that I unknowingly possessed until about 3 weeks ago) has shown itself in the most unreasonable manner.
To start off, we (the roomie and I) have a quote wall in our room now.  While we have a pretty even split written up there, I have noticed that most of the stupid/thoughtless comments that have been made in the day-to-day life of us have been mine!  I just make sure that I write all of Em's down so that I don't feel like such a loner

Saturday is a good example of my newly acquired blondness::
Emily was gone for the weekend and I was quite lonely.  Thankfully it was a good weekend for me to be roommate-less because the amount of homework I had was nothing to brag about.  So Saturday morning, I got ready for the day, went to breakfast and locked the door to my room.  This may sound mean, but I really needed to get this homework done and I knew that unless I locked all of my friends out it would never happen!  (Emily and I have a very social room)  I sleep on the top bunk in our room, and I really like to study up there too - it's just comfortable (extremely!) and out of the way.
So I was studying Typography up there on this particular morning.  The door is locked, I'm readying large textbooks, eating chocolate, and the ladder is leaning against the bed (rather than being hooked on).  Then I decide that I have to use the bathroom...
I am about half way down the ladder when it leaves me.  Completely.  So there I am, dangling from my bed.  Thankfully I had grabbed onto my bed so I did not fall all the way down.  I began to envision myself hanging off the side of my bed for the rest of the weekend.  Door locked, pathetically  yelling for my RA to come and help me down.  Then I realized that I could climb down quite easily by stepping on Emily's bed (which is about 2.3 feet under my own).
Needless to say, I felt pretty stupid and the ladder will never again rest on the bed.

Floor Shirt Ideas

I was asked to design the floor shirts this year!  I'm very excited about it, but I'm nervous too.  I really want to do a good job, and this is my first design that will be used around campus.  Not only will the girls on my floor wear it, but my professors will see it and that will reflect on me (tons!).

Our floor motto is “This changes everything”, and we have lots of black and white with pops of color.  The red flowers/stars are the pops of color - but they would be a little different on each shirt.  We will color the flowers (that will be printed white) in with sharpies so that everyone’s will be a little different.

The front of the shirt has the motto on it and the back has Galatians 5:13 on it and will have the names of each girl on the floor.  I haven't picked a spot for "Gainey 2nd South" to go yet, but I'm thinking either before the names (kind of like a header), or in the lower right hand corner on the front...  still thinking about that.

Anyway, I would really appreciate the feedback
